What happend so far....???

Well, so far Montreal went through Draft day and made montrealers' very happy, on the selection of Louis LeBlanc. The habs went on by selecting a seven more players on the Draft day. The other seven selections are Joonas Nattinen at 65th pick, at 79th pick was Mac Bennett, 109th was Alexander Avtsyn, 139th was Gabriel Dumont, 169th was Dustin Walsh, 199th was Michael Cichy and finally at 211th pick was Petteri Simila. So far these are "Canadiens Class of 2009" as mentioned by Hab official site.

The Habs have a new coach Jacques Martin, who is not very much appreciated by many fans. Although in a long time Canadiens have a experienced coach, it would be preferable a coach who earned something. Other events that followed was the new owner of Canadiens franchise is now the Molson Brothers. If you want more information about molson brother just read this article “
Molson Brothers: Who are they?” by Montreal Gazette.

And, offcourse the most important news of all is the Free Agent Frenzy, well, unlike every other year, Habs GM was the busiest and loudest in the league. Although, he didn’t get what he promised (a big centre man), but he did acquire some small young talent. Bob started off by trading with Rangers C. Higgins (and some others) for Scott Gomez (some others). Montreal Canadiens made other changes on Free Agent day, such as acquireing Mike Cammalleri, Brian Gionta (previous teammate of S. Gomez), Hall Gill and Jaroslav Spacek. On the process Habs lost some of their other assets (many may not agree) such as Alex Kovalev, Saku Koivu (a true fighter, all though he may not have brought much difference I have huge respect), Alex Tanguay (very talented player) and some others. At the same time, Mike Komisarek signed up with Maple Leafs even after Gainy made him an offer. Steve Begin also, headed to Boston Bruins. Two of our players went to two of our most hated Rivals.

Many may not like the new changes, but I believe it is a beginning of a new generation for the habs. It is good to have some changes once in a while. I believe Montreal is slightly a better team than last season, although, these assumption are made from the statistics of the players. We will just have to wait and see how it plays out once the season start.
One more thing, many fans wanted to have Alex Kovalev back on the team. I am not a Kovy hater, I believe he is an extremely talented player, but same time a very lazy-type of player. There are also, rumours that he didn’t get along with captain Saku. Well Montreal needs a fresh start, so it’s good to see some new faces, and old faces move on. But I thank all those player not coming back, for their contribution to the team, specifically to Captain Saku Koivu.

All that being said, I believe Montreal has a chance to grow strong with new players and will be more improved team, and who knows might even give Pittsburg a tough time keeping their CUP, and make a long waited FANS DREAM COME TRUE.....
