Wishing well to Saku Koivu!!

Saku Koivu, a 34-year-old former captain of the Montreal Canadiens, is unfortunately no longer the captain for the Habs and is listed among the list of free agents. It was this very captain who led the Habs in October with a +9 rating and notched two game-winning goals in March in the 2008-2009 season.

Can Saku be replaced?

Saku Koivu is one of the greatest players of the Montreal Canadiens. It will be hard to have another player like Saku for the Habs. Koivu is a very courageous player. He suffered a knee injury in a game against the Chicago Blackhaucks, in 1996, his second season with the Montreal Canadiens, when he was leading the NHL with 13 goals and 25 assists. In that season, he missed 32 games, but, still, when he returned, he had earned 56 points in 50 games. The most memorable moment was when he was diagnosed with abdominal cancer in September 2001. He was supposed to miss the entire season, but he didn't have to, as he was able to come back on ice at the Bell Centre, which was then called Molson Centre. It was the same season when the Canadiens eliminated the top-ranked Boston Bruins in the Playoffs.

The number 11 Saku Koivu will be greatly missed by all fans of the Montreal Canadiens.

It will not be the same without Koivu, but on behalf of all the Habs fan I wish him well on his next journey...
